Wow, okay
For some (not completely random) reason, I just watched this video I edited for the HPA for our fifth anniversary party.
It was my first project for the HPA. I stayed up all night on Skype the night before the party editing it with Kate Looby and then got on a bus to Boston at seven am, where I kept editing for the whole drive.
I had never met anyone on the HPA staff IRL or even in the fandom at large before that day. I’d spent a few weeks editing all these people I had never met and then they were there existing in front of me — talking, hugging, watching the video and rocking out together.

It was so bizarre to watch that video and remember seeing those faces when I was editing - and not just the ones I’d seen before like Andrew and Paul, but the others like Kelly and Julian and Katie - and how they looked so foreign at the time, but now they mean so much to me.
Just. Yeah.

Aw man, I got an F in vlogging.
The HPA’s facebook page has the new timeline. Go check it out!

How long can you keep the injustices of the world hidden now that they have an international fan base?
Ben Agger, director of the Center for Theory at the University of Texas at Arlington Sociology Department, on the power of fan activism in an article by the Christian Science Monitor about Hunger Is Not a Game.
Lionsgate is trying to shut down the Hunger Is Not a Game campaign. They’re messing with the wrong crowd if they think their unjust actions will be hidden.

Tour is starting soon, so it’s time to say goodbye to the beard. This beard has been with me since the start of 2012. It’s served me well and saved me lots of time shaving. I’m not one to let a good beard go to waste, so I’m ready to send this beard to the first person who donates $50 to the Harry Potter Alliance. Yep, that’s right! Two and a half months of facial follicle growth can be yours!
Some practical applications for my (former) beard include: making wigs for small dolls, stuffing for tiny pillows, making nests for small pets, extracting DNA for weird and potentially evil cloning schemes, and more!
BONUS: the first person to donate $25 to the HP Alliance will get my mustache.
Donate here!
http://thehpalliance.org/donate
The beard and/or mustache will be mailed to the first person who emails the receipt for their donation to: harryandthepotters (at) yahoo (dot) com.

I’m getting ready to weigh in on this discussion in my vlog for today. Check it out if you haven’t already.

Julian went all CrashCourse in his vlog yesterday and totally taught me things about hunger I didn’t know.
Also, his Hunger Games discussion question this week is about the role of the media in the games, which is something I’ve been particularly interested in as I’ve read the series.

Julian’s drowning in work so we’ll let him off the hook for going over four minutes this week and because he spent that time saying how awesome women are.
“I seriously think my adjective choice has narrowed significantly since becoming a Nerdfighter.”

A bit on Chris Brown but mostly about doing your own research to be a responsible citizen.
Sometimes I do this thing where I make videos for this organization.
This is one of those things.
You should watch it while you have your Sunday brunch.

Benefits: Fair labor conditions, fair price, direct trade, community development, environmental sustainability, and lots more.
In our Not in Harry’s Name campaign, we want to make sure that our chocolate frogs don’t come as a result of child slavery, something that does happen and something…
