How long can you keep the injustices of the world hidden now that they have an international fan base?
Ben Agger, director of the Center for Theory at the University of Texas at Arlington Sociology Department, on the power of fan activism in an article by the Christian Science Monitor about Hunger Is Not a Game.
Lionsgate is trying to shut down the Hunger Is Not a Game campaign. They’re messing with the wrong crowd if they think their unjust actions will be hidden.

Tour is starting soon, so it’s time to say goodbye to the beard. This beard has been with me since the start of 2012. It’s served me well and saved me lots of time shaving. I’m not one to let a good beard go to waste, so I’m ready to send this beard to the first person who donates $50 to the Harry Potter Alliance. Yep, that’s right! Two and a half months of facial follicle growth can be yours!
Some practical applications for my (former) beard include: making wigs for small dolls, stuffing for tiny pillows, making nests for small pets, extracting DNA for weird and potentially evil cloning schemes, and more!
BONUS: the first person to donate $25 to the HP Alliance will get my mustache.
Donate here!
http://thehpalliance.org/donate
The beard and/or mustache will be mailed to the first person who emails the receipt for their donation to: harryandthepotters (at) yahoo (dot) com.

We’re beginning a new thing across the HPA’s social media platforms. It’s a very exciting new thing where we’ll be having ongoing discussions that span mediums. One day, the bloggers will have their say, then the YouTubers, and then us. The days will rotate, but this week the blog was…
I’m getting ready to weigh in on this discussion in my vlog for today. Check it out if you haven’t already.

Julian went all CrashCourse in his vlog yesterday and totally taught me things about hunger I didn’t know.
Also, his Hunger Games discussion question this week is about the role of the media in the games, which is something I’ve been particularly interested in as I’ve read the series.

Julian’s drowning in work so we’ll let him off the hook for going over four minutes this week and because he spent that time saying how awesome women are.
“I seriously think my adjective choice has narrowed significantly since becoming a Nerdfighter.”

The Harry Potter Alliance: Let's talk about fair trade.
Benefits: Fair labor conditions, fair price, direct trade, community development, environmental sustainability, and lots more.
In our Not in Harry’s Name campaign, we want to make sure that our chocolate frogs don’t come as a result of child slavery, something that does happen and something…

An Unofficial Harry Potter Alliance PSA
Our glow-in-the-dark Deathly Hallows Campaign t-shirts are not for the faint of heart… or those prone to fevers.
I’ve been in bed with a fever all day and I’ve had the curtains pulled closed so it’s all dark in my bedroom. I’ve been going in and out of sleep all day and every time I wake up, I FREAK OUT because my chest is GLOWING. It’s freaking terrifying when you’re feverish, man.

Help. Empower. Rebuild.
In his Monday video, Julian talked about the HER Concert for Congo, a benefit concert he’ll be helping plan through his school. The event aims to raise $20,000, which will go towards building a safe house for Congolese women. Rape is used as a weapon of war in Congo and these safe houses provide vital help for women who become victims of this; as Julian said, such houses save lives and it is of vast importance that more are built.
You can donate here! All donations will go directly to the cause.
